Harry Ako, chair of the Department of Molecular Bioscience and Bioengineering at the Univeristy of Hawaii, told local news station KHON that omega-3s have a similar effect on the body as aspirin. The only difference is that aspirin is a synthetic chemical, whereas omega-3s are all natural.
This process can have a range of benefits for joint health, Ako told the news source. Therefore, individuals who are concerned about the conditions of their joints may benefit from considering omega-3 supplementation.
The American Heart Association states that individuals can get a full week's worth omega-3s from eating about two servings of oily fish. However, this can get expensive. Additionally, many people simply do not like fish. If these individuals are still concerned about their joint health, they may benefit from looking into nutritional supplements.
